Prof. Maitreesh Ghatak, Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics delivered the Seventh B.G. Kumar Lecture on ‘Persistence of Poverty and Anti-Poverty Policies: Theory and Evidence’ at 4 p.m on 23rd March 2016 at CDS Thiruvananthapuram.
Prof. Maitreesh Ghatak is Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. He is an applied microeconomic theorist with research interests in economic development and public economics. His research on microfinance, property rights, occupational choice, collective action, and the economics of non-profit organizations, published in the world’s leading journals, is globally acclaimed. He has been managing editor of the Review of Economic Studies and the Journal of Development Economics, co-editor of the Economics of Transition and Economica. He directs the research group on Economic Organization and Public Policy (EOPP) at the LSE. He is the Lead Economist of the DFID-funded International Growth Centre’s India (Bihar) programme. He is a board member of the Bureau for Research in the Economic Analysis of Development, also known as the BREAD
