The Reserve Bank of India instituted Prof. K. N. Raj Memorial National Fellowship Scheme in 2012-13 as a tribute to the invaluable contribution of Prof. K. N. Raj to economic research and policy. The Fellowship is awarded to a distinguished scholar of social sciences from India or abroad to pursue research for a short period in an academic institution in India.
The first awardee is the well-known development economist, Professor Ravi Kanbur, T.H Lee Professor of World Affairs, International Professor of Applied Economics and Management and Professor of Economics, Cornell University, USA. Under this Fellowship, Prof. Kanbur will pursue his research on “Informality: Causes, Consequences and Policy Responses” at the Centre.
