A Webinar on ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation Systems: Two Indian Case Studies,’ was presented by Dr Chidambaran G. Iyer, Associate Professor, CDS over CISCO Webex Meetings on Friday, the 18th of September, 2020, at 3.30 pm. Professor Sunil Mani, Director, CDS was the moderator of the webinar.
Abstract: This study focuses on the impact of an entrepreneur on innovation systems in two different industries – one a traditional or mature industry i.e. petroleum refining, and the other a new technology industry i.e. mobile telecommunications (till 2004). It is found that while in the traditional industry the entrepreneur’s entry energised other actors to improve their technological level; in the new technology industry the entrepreneur’s impact is more profound in the diffusion of mobile services. Finally, using the events that unfolded, the study finds some evidence on the impact of the entrepreneur on the institutions for each of these industries.
