CDS proposes to conduct an ‘Orientation Programme’ for the Research Scholars and faculty members belonging to “SC and other Marginalized Groups” from 25th to 29th November 2013. This programme is funded by ICSSR and is intended to introduce various databases on Indian Economy to young scholars engaged in research.
Objectives and Contents:
This course will familiarize the students with the vocabulary of social science research, the diverse data base of Indian economy ranging from Census, NSSO, and Secondary data-base on population, labor, health, migration, industry, trade and finance as well as large-scale state survey data sets. The five-day programme will consist of lectures on various aspects of research methodology, library visits and computer workshops.
Selection criteria and process:
Research Scholars and members of Faculty in Social Sciences are encouraged to apply. A maximum of fifteen participants will be selected based on their suitability for the programme. The programme is residential with free boarding and lodging. Three-tier AC train fare by the shortest route will be reimbursed.
