The Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram jointly with the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India has organized a Regional Consultation on the Implementation of STI Policy 2013 on Saturday, 31 August 2013 at CDS.
Inaugurating the consultation Prof. V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Executive Vice President, KSCSTE, Govt. of Kerala said the funding for the university education system in science was weighed heavily in favour of the research and postgraduate departments, leaving precious little for the undergraduate teaching departments. This, he said, had affected the development of human resource.
The participants stressed the need to decouple the education system from its hierarchical structure and promote science, technology and innovation through curriculam orientation.
