Abstract:
A half a century after the green revolution, India remains a country with mass chronic hunger. I discuss the state of food insecurity using the latest measure based on costs of a healthy diet. I then turn to old and new challenges on the production front including production for nutrition security, addressing concerns of climate change and overcoming the constraints of small farmers. Lastly, I discuss the need to address demand-side constraints in terms of affordability of a health diet.
