As part of the work programme of NRPPD, a Workshop on Emerging Issues in India’s Plantation Sector was organized during 31 March & 1 April 2014.
The workshop began with a welcome address by Professor Amit Shovon Ray, Director, CDS. About 60 scholars from different parts of the country and representatives different commodity boards participated in the workshop. The participants also included Ph D scholars from different universities working on issues related to plantations
As decided by the Steering Committee of NRPPD, a function was also organised to honour the innovative farmers with the CDS- NRPPD Plantation Innovation Award 2014: The awards were given to those farmers who received the award from National Innovation Foundation in the sphere of spices.
In a ceremony chaired by Prof Amit Shovon Ray, Director, CDS and Shri K M Chandrasekhar, Vice Chairman, State Planning Board, gave away the awards
The workshop concluded on the second day with the feedback from resource persons and PhD Scholars in a session chaired by Professor S. Irudaya Rajan.
